Tequilaa's the Rocket Fuel of Choice in New Mexico

'BB TEQUILAA' and Kristin Walker Win the opening day 35 miler at this years running of the 'New Mexico Renegade Pioneer' multi day endurance race. Then on Friday they nearly repeat with a strong second place finish and also receive the "Best Condition" award.   On Saturday they rounded out the multi day event with an easy 14th place finish.

Skijoring in Renegades!

So we finally got our last race rescheduled and had the chance to really try out the Ice Boots. They have been great in training rides, but I can never get the same speed and intensity as when there is a skier chasing us, lol. So we disqualified (skier error) and didn't place, BUT Manny was the fastest he has ever been all season, AND the boots stayed on. Footing was hardpack, but lots of soft spots to break through as the day went on and plenty of ice patches in the holding area. We had no footing issues at all. The boots didn't rub or cause any irritation and did not accumulate snow or debris. He wore them from 9am to 4pm or so. I could not be more thrilled with them...worth ever penny! You couldn't pry them away from us. I'll be saving for another pair for next year for my TB.

Cheryl Searer riding her Arbian gelding 'VERDYKT MBN' and Dayna Weary riding her Arabian gelding 'THE REVERLING TGE' tie for first position on Fridays 60 mile event and incredibly, they also tied for the highly coveted "Best Condition" award.

Another 'Top Ten' was earned by Lina Morelli riding her Arabian gelding 'ADMIRAL COGNAC' who finished in 6th position.

On Saturdays 50 mile event, Cheryl Searer and Linda Morelli both finished in the top ten again with Cheryl riding 'VERDYKT MBN' to a 4th and taking the Best Condition Award and Linda riding her other gelding 'FALLING LEAF' to a 5th place finish.

In the 30 mile event on Friday, David Shefrin riding his horse named 'GE DRUZ SHAATGUN' finished in 2nd place only one second behind first place. Kristin Walker and her Arab gelding 'BB TEQUILAA' finished in 4th. Louise Thompson riding her Arab/Mustang mare 'STAHR' finished in 6th for three "Top Ten" finishes in the 30 miler.

On Saturdays 30 mile event, Kristin Walker rode Louise Thompson's mare 'STAHR' to another "Top Ten" for a fifth place finish.

More Top Ten's and a Best Condition Award
at Eastern Mojave

Dr. Bruce Weary and his wife Dayna have success at the Eastern Mojave Scenic Pioneer multi day endurance event. Dayna riding her Arabian gelding 'THE REVERLING TGE', a.k.a. 'CRICKET' finished in 5th position on Saturday and also recieved the highly coveted "Best Condition" award. On Sunday they had another great performance with an 8th place finish.

Bruce (a heavyweight division rider) completed in 18th position on Saturday with his Missouri Fox Trotter mare named 'SUGAR', a great finish considering the 100+ competitors at this event. Bruce and his mare also finished "Top Ten" wearing Renegades at the Grand Canyon Pioneer XP in 2007 with 'SUGAR' having been out of metal shoes only four weeks.

Renegades Whip em at Wickenburg!

Linda Morelli and her buddy Michelle Mueller have a friendly duel to the finish at the Land Of The Sun 50 mile endurance race held in Wickenburg, Arizona. Linda and her Arabian gelding 'LEAF' on the left were declared the winner with Michelle and her mount 'ZARR' (owned by Kirt and Gina Lander and trained by Michelle) taking second place. Michelle Mueller riding her Arab gelding Sky Bask won this event last year (scroll down page to see).

Does any doubt yet remain that the booted barefoot horse can perform to the top levels of endurance competition? Notice the horse in the background trying to chase them down. So sorry Mr. Steel Shoes!

Two Top Tens at Cienega Mud Fest!

Linda Morelli riding her Arab gelding 'BLAZER', splashed to a second place finish on day two of the "Oh So Muddy" Las Cienega 50 mile endurance race held in southern Arizona. On day three Linda did it again with her other Arab gelding named 'LEAF' finishing in 4th.

Four Top Tens at Moab!

Linda Morelli and Cheryl Searer top ten'ed both days of the Moab Canyons endurance race held in southern Utah this past November 3rd and 4th.

Linda riding her Gelding 'FALLING LEAF' finished both days of the event in 6th and 7th place and took fastest combined time for the 'same horse and rider team'.

Cheryl riding her Arabian gelding 'QUICK SILVER' finished 7th on day one. On day two Cheryl rode her other Arabian gelding 'VERDYTK' and placed 4th.

'THE REVERLING' and Dayna Weary
Win at Prescott!
Other Renegade Riders close behind!

THE REVERLING TGE and owner/rider Dayna Weary win the grueling 50 mile Man Against Horse Race held in Prescott Arizona! But that's not all! FALLING LEAF and owner/rider Linda Morelli finish a breath behind in second place and also take the highly coveted Best Condition Award! Incredibly, that's still not all! LIKA QUASAR owned and ridden by Michelle Mueller take seventh place and just a snort behind was QUICK SILVER with owner/rider Cheryl Seerer up finishing in eighth for an astounding showing of booted barefoot horses.

A first, a second, two additional Top Tens and a Best Condition!

The hooves of all four geldings are cared for by barefoot specialist Michelle Mueller.

THE REVERLING TGE and owner/rider Dayna Weary Take First Place! Cricket as he's affectionately known is a nine year old Arabian gelding, barefoot for about four weeks at the time of this race. An amazing feat for a horse so close to coming out of shoes.

FALLING LEAF a ten year old Arabian gelding and ower/rider Linda Morelli capture second place and the Best Condition Award! "LEAF" is a 10 year old Arabian gelding, barefoot about 14 weeks.

In his first fifty mile competition, five year old Arabian gelding 'LIKA QUASAR' captured 7th place with owner/rider Michelle Mueller up.

QUICK SILVER and owner/rider Cheryl Searer finish in 8th position. Silver is an 11 year old Arabian gelding barefoot about 14 weeks and shown here receiving a massage and a refueling at the lunch hold.

A special thanks goes out to Michelle Mueller for all her hard work pulling shoes, trimming hooves and fitting boots to this fine group of endurance athletes. Mix together great people, athletic horses and a good working hoof boot and amazing things happen!

This brings Stahr's 2007 competition record to an incredible nine top ten finishes. Wow!

Saturday April 14, 2007, 'BHENKALEB' aka Behn and owner/rider Sally Tarbet blast to a second place finish at the Owyhee Tough Sucker 25 mile endurance race held in Oreana Idaho. Behn and Sally had a great ride finishing within a minuet of their buddies HMR Rowdy and owner/rider Linda Walberg.

Top Ten at the inaugural Scottsdale McDowell Mountain 25 mile Endurance Race

Saturday April 7, 2007, 'STAHR' with owner Louise Thompson up, ride to a ninth place finish in the inaugural McDowell Mountain 25 mile endurance race held in Scottsdale Arizona. STAHR is a 12 year old Arab/Mustang mare with incredible natural talent. Stahr and Louise (70 years young) have seven top ten L/D finishes this year already and were the 2006 Southwest Region Senior L/D mileage champions.

'Sky Bask' and Michelle Mueller Win the
Land of the Sun 50 mile Endurance Race
in Wickenburg AZ

Saturday January 27 th 2007, 'SKY BASK' who is now barefoot (less than three months) and owner/rider Michelle Mueller beat out all competition to win the 50 mile event in just over 5 hours total ride time. This is Sky's second first place finish and his fifth top ten.

Congratulations to Sky and Michelle for a much deserved win!
