Cindy Bradley and Bogar Tucker, Bryce Pioneer XP Ride

Bogar Tucker my Morgan gelding and I just completed our first 5 day 250 mile endurance ride at Bryce Canyon. Bo has been using strap on Renegades for several years now without any rubs or other issues. For the five day I decided to use glue on Renegades. It just seemed easier for a multi-day ride. Bo came through all five days without any lameness issues. Although Steve and I now are comfortable with applying the Renegade glue on boots, I must admit that I still prefer the strap on Renegades for most applications. I like the idea of being able to remove the Renegades and check feet. They are so easy to put on it takes no time remove them and reapply. Thank you Kirt and Gina for two wonderful products Cindy Bradley

Renegade Strap-On Hoof Boots: An Endurance Riders Favorite Boot!

Dear Kirt and Gina – my two horses, Granite Chief and Pro Bono just completed the 5 day 250 mile Bryce Canyon XP ride. We had a great adventure both during the week of the ride and prior to it even starting. I used Renegade strap-on boots on both horses.

I love how easy the strap on boots are to use. I don’t need any special tools to put them on and can get them installed on all four hooves in only a handful of minutes including picking out the horses hooves.

Each evening I pulled the boots off and rinsed them out in a bucket of water. The boots would dry overnight and be ready to use again the next day. Bo uses 2′s and 1′s, while Chief uses 1′s and 0′s.

I have not had either horse get rubbed from using these boots, and have used them for thousands of miles of competition so far plus many more miles than that while marking trail and conditioning!

During my two week trip I rode the horses through plenty of water crossings, mud, rocks, grass, hard packed trails and lots of climbing. The Renegades performed so well! I was really impressed with the great traction both of my horses had in all types of terrain, and at all speeds. One rider commented about not being able to canter with boots on. Well – I put that theory to a pretty good test and guess what – my boots stayed on both horses at all gaits. We had a blast!!

It was good to see so many other riders using the Renegade strap on boots during the week at Bryce too. It is obvious that these boots are the most popular choice among endurance riders as far as strap on hoof boots are concerned.

I know others are happy that they don’t have to use any additional materials like duct tape, sport tape or vetwrap with them (their Renegades).

Renegade strap on boots are definitely my #1 choice!

I really loved not having to glue boots on either horse for this ride. Thank you!!! Karen Chaton

Woody in the Badlands of Alberta; retired cowhorse in his Renegades!

043 43 medium Woody in the Badlands of Alberta; retired cowhorse in his Renegades!

My barefoot trimmer, Lane Moore, suggested I get Renegades as my gelding’s
hoofs needed protection.

Here’s me and Woody, a 25-year-old appendix thoroughbred, on the banks of the Red Deer River that flows through the badlands of Alberta. In this photo he has just spotted his first canoe.

Woody has had a stellar career as a real working cowhorse on the big ranges of Saskatchewan. It’s estimated he has dragged 30,000 calves to a branding fire and sorted 500,000 pair (cows and calves.) He had been shod every summer for 22 years (he’s 25 now) and chances are he’ll never be able to be ridden completely barefoot, but with the help of Renegades he’ll still remain sound and continue to enjoy his ‘retirement’ while seeing new sights and new country.

s mendocino 50 070320101 medium 400x320 Renegade Glue Ons and Strap Ons, two more Top – Ten Performances!I rode my Appendix Quarter horse mare, Savannah, July 3rd at the Mendocino Magic 50 mile ride with 52 riders starting. This ride is located on private property overlooking the Ocean about 10 miles north of Fort Bragg, California. This is a beautiful and hilly ride through Redwoods and creeks with a cooling marine layer keeping horses and riders cool in the morning. Savannah was wearing size 2 glue-on boots on the hinds and on the fronts, she was wearing size 2W Renegade strap-ons. The boots kept Savannah comfortable and fast to a 9th place finish.

This ride is similar in that it also overlooked the Ocean with a cooling marine layer in the morning, was hilly, and had creek crossings through redwoods. For this ride, Savannah was wearing glue-ons all around. Her hind boots were previously used at the Mendocino Magic ride. I and Dennis Tracy were leading this ride through roughly the half-way point when we missed a turn that resulted in both of us taking an extra 4 mile loop and I finished in 9th place. I sure would have liked that 4 miles back as Savannah scored high in the Best Condition competition!

Renegades – A Hoof Boot that Works!

Renegade Hoof Boots

Renegade Hoof Boots

Just finished a 5 day trip in the Eagle Cap Wilderness in Oregon. I wanted to let you know that our horses have been barefoot for about 6 years now. We have tried many other boots, including the most famous ones, with limited success. There was always something broken, something torn, something that needed to be replaced. The boots simply could not withstand the terrain we ride on. On top of that, they were very difficult to put on. We have been using the Renegade Boots for two years now, and have had much better results. In fact, I have not had to repair or replace anything yet! This is a photo of Apache at Slick Rock Creek, on the Hurricane Creek Trail. He is a happy horse, having a good time, and I am happy to have finally found a hoof boot that works. Thank you!

Renegade Hoof Boots at Cooley Ranch 50 Ride, June 12, 2010

Gordon Frazier and Savannah crossing one of the many creek crossings at Cooley Ranch

I had a wonderful ride at Cooley Ranch, which is a 19,000 acre ranch that is much of the watershed serving Lake Sonoma in Northern California. The ranch is just covered with big Oaks, green grass, and creeks. We crossed a creek almost every few minutes! Ride Managers, Cynthia Ariosta, and Forrest Tancer did a wonderful job organizing the ride. The “50″ had 71 riders and the 25 had 31 riders.

I rode Instant Kharma (Savannah, Appendix-Quarter horse) in Renegades and she finished strongly, constantly passing other horses and we finished 10th. I was very impressed with how strong she finished considering all the steep hills(my GPS showed over 4000 feet) and also that I had not ridden her more than a few times since last fall as I was not even planning to ride this horse this year but my thoroughbred just wasn’t ready. Savannah is a “hot” horse. There’s no need for an acclerator, only brakes are needed. In order to move at a more “sane” pace at the start, we walked up to the start a few minutes late after all the horses were gone. It worked pretty well as she was not exactly relaxed, but certainly not nuts as in the past. Last year at the Mt. Diablo 50, I tried riding her with the front runners but was concerned about the pace at the start and tried to slow her down. Well, she was not going to let those other horses leave her so she dumped me, left me, and passed the front runners! It was 1hr and 10 minutes later that I joined up with her again when another rider, Terry Reilly- riding Mustang Sally, found her on the trail on her way back to camp and ponied her to me.

Thanks Gina & Kirt for the excellent technical assistance with the Renegade glue-ons and strap-ons. I’m glad that we made the transition (winter 2008/2009) to barefoot/boots.
