Experienced Boot User Report on Renegade Hoof Boots
I think Renegades have a better breakover, and a much more forgiving fit, while still staying secure.
I have used hoof boots over the last four years or so. My conclusion? Renegades are the only hoof boots I’ll use. I would go back to nailed-on shoes if I couldn’t use my Renegades.
They have not been 100% foolproof (what hoof boot ever is?) but I’ve had the least amount of problems with them, and the couple of minor problems I have had, they’ve been very easy to solve.
One thing in the front of my mind is how easy the Renegades are to work with. In my mind, I do not want to have to spend half an hour prepping feet to make boots work. In my mind, I shouldn’t have to wrap the foot with athletic tape, or vetwrap, or moleskin, or duct tape, to make a boot fit every single time I ride. That’s just added expense and time.
Gina, thanks for the fast response as always in shipping out the straps. We’re going to go ride up at Groom Creek with several other endurance riders next weekend and make a weekend-long camping trip out of it. Should be interesting — several of the riders going are Tevis hopefuls, so I’m sure we’ll get quite a good workout weekend!
