Watch out! It’s snake season for sure!

Around the Renegade Boot Factory property we’ve got this pesky critter called a Mojave Rattlesnake, more commonly known as the Mojave Green. This snake is amongst the worlds most venomous snakes containing both a hemotoxin and a neurotoxin. This is our third Mojave Rattlesnake encounter of the season plus one Diamond Back Rattler.
And just two days ago our normally most beautiful Arabian Mare Sharima was bitten on the face by a rattlesnake of unknown species. This is the third time we’ve had a horse snake bitten while living in Arizona. Dang horses are a bit too curious sometimes. Fortunately for Sharima, we administered a dose of the powerful steroid Dexamethasone soon after the bite, which had the swelling well down by the afternoon. Hopefully it was not a Mojave Green that bit her because horses can still react badly several days after the bite and die. Thus far all signs are positive but we’re still crossing our fingers.
