Renegade Classic Hoof Boot
Boot Shell Shape
The Renegade Classic is slightly more oval in shape, with a narrower toe area and wider heels. A hoof that is more “spade” or triangular in shape with very wide heels may fit better into the Renegade Classic hoof boot.
Sizing Charts
The two boot models use different sizing charts and size designations. The Classic uses traditional size designations of 0, 1, 2, etc.
Heel Captivators
The heel captivator of the Classic is slightly taller in height and flatter in shape than the Viper, and will suit a wider range of heel bulb shapes. Heel bulbs that are flatter, or narrower, without much definition, will do better in the Classic captivator.
Tread
The Viper tread pattern is slightly deeper and more aggressive. If slipping in mud or wet terrain is a concern, the Viper tread will often be more suitable for wet conditions.
Key Features
- Easy to install
- Protects on rocky terrain
- Provides exccellent traction
- Best for hooves that are triangular in shape
- Guaranteed not to rub
- Replacement parts available
Renegade Viper® Hoof Boot
Boot Shell Shape
The Viper® is a more rounded hoof boot for horses overall, with a wider toe and more inward curvature at the heels. A very round, symmetrical hoof will often do best in the Renegade Viper hoof boot.
Sizing Charts
The Viper® uses the metric dimensions of the boot length x width as the size designation (135×125 = 135 length and 125 width).
Heel Captivators
The Viper® captivator has more defined “pockets” for the heel bulbs to seat into, but if the heel bulbs are not well defined, or do not align well with the captivator pockets, this option would not be as suitable. Heel captivators can be changed out between boot styles – send us photos of the hooves if you have a question about captivator suitability.
Tread
The Viper® tread pattern is slightly deeper and more aggressive. If slipping in mud or wet terrain is a concern, the Viper tread will often be more suitable for wet conditions.
Key Features
