A quantity of 1 is a single boot, select 2 for a pair of boots. Each increment of 2 will be treated as a pair for initial strap setup (one left one right). If you order an odd number of hoof boots, please use the notes field at checkout to request how many of “Left” or “Right”.
Single boot sales allow owners of horses with mis-matched hoof sizes to buy individually, and for easy purchase of single replacements.

The sizes indicate the hoof boot sole dimensions. We recommend selecting a size that is about 5-10mm longer and wider than the hoof measurements after a proper Natural Style Trim. The sizing shows length first then width second.

The material used to make our Hoof Boots is an ultra durable polyurethane for a very long lasting boot, which is also designed to deliver even more hoof and joint protection than the horse would get barefoot without hoof boots.
Viper® Shield is the hardest wearing material - You can expect 600-1000 miles out of Viper® Shield hoof boots.
Viper® Vivid™ is an ultra durable polyurethane resulting in an extremely long lasting boot, while offering a very slightly softer material, and Viper® Glow material has slightly more give.

The Renegade® Viper™ Shield Hoof Boot provides durable, lightweight, long-lasting hoof protection for barefoot horses, eliminating the expense of metal shoes and allowing natural flexion of the hoof for optimum circulation and healthy hooves.
Viper™ Hoof Boots have been developed over 20 years for maximum mileage, hoof stability and endurance hoof boot for barefoot horses. With competition-proven pivoting heel captivator design, a military grade cabling system and durable straps, the Viper™ Hoof Boot features a sleek look and bright colors, while the ultra-durable polyurethane used to make the Viper Shield™ results in a seriously tough, long-lasting boot. Deep tread grooves provide longer-lasting grip to bite the ground, and display the artistic talent of our hoof boot designer, Kirt Lander.
This hoof boot design was trimmed down using finite element analysis, resulting in a hoof boot with more robust tread which weighs around 15% less than the Classic, and offers more lateral clearance on both the Boot Shell and the Heel Captivator. A deeper Heel Captivator 'gullet' allows for improved pastern bone clearance. The inside of the hoof boot is texturized and the Heel Captivator Liner is bonded in place for more stability in action. The Viper™ logo and boot size are stamped large inside of each boot for quick and easy size readability.
When sizing for Vipers, allow a minimum of 5mm (and max of 10mm) clearance between the hoof measurement and boot measurement, to allow for variation during the trim cycle.

Ich bin sehr zufrieden mit den Hufschuhen, Beratung zur Passform optimal. Schuhe passen gut und in allen Gangarten haben wir noch keinen Schuh verloren. Bei den Klettverschlüssen muss ich noch ein Stückchen abschneiden und umnähen, da die Enden mir zu lang sind aber ansonsten bin ich und mein Pferd rund um zufrieden... jetzt wird sich zeigen wie lange die Schuhe halten.

Love the Viper. We've been using them over two years now, mainly on rocky and hard terrain. They last us a whole endurance riding season till I replace the shell (around 1300 km). Overall we (the ranch) love the renegade boots. However I think even with the measurement it still might be too small. We are going to use the 140x140 for another horse and order a pair of 145x145 just cause the heal bulb sticks out farther than the rear of the sole.

I’ve loved Renegades for years now but I just ordered the traction studs and love the difference they make! I live and ride in the Big South Fork region of middle TN. Lots of great trails but also lots of rocks and the studs really help with the large sandstone rocks we encounter…gives my girl more traction for sure which equates to more safety for us both!

They fit my mare well. We have ridden over rocky terrain and through water with them. Last ride was 8.7 miles long. They do not rub, twist nor have they came off her hoof even though she is at the end of her trim cycle. The only complaint I have is adjusting the cables. It's not as easy as videos make it look especially after dirt gets in the little hole. Otherwise so far perfect boot for us.

I bought Renegade boots for my Thoroughbred with thin soles on the recommendation of the business owner at the stable I recently moved to. These boots did not disappoint! I have definitely put them to the test over the last few months in all kinds of different terrain and type of riding...galloping in open fields, jumping, road riding, trailering, lateral dressage work, water crossings, bogs, hill work, etc. (all on a green horse learning balance and how to move properly) with absolutely no issues with the boots!! No rubs, not ever loosing a boot, and he has remained sound and happy! I can't say enough abour these boots. I will be forever a client of this company. 😊 The only thing I will say is reach out to the company to help you size your horse properly. I hired a person from a boot sizing company to come and size my horse and ordered my 1st pair on her recommendations. When they arrived they absolutely were huge on him, so big they couldn't be used safely. Due to the return policy at the Renegade company (the boots had the gel pad added in them which makes the boots not returnable) I will have to resell them locally which I probably will not recover the total cost I paid due to the international shipping costs and tarrifs I paid. Do yourself a huge favor and use the company's free sizing option! The boots they recommend fit 100% One happy horse and rider!

These boots have changed the way my horse smokeys and I ride. We are now able to do trail rides without getting rocks and debris inside his hoof. We can even do some amazing events with the ride and tie organization. They protect my horses hoof and stay on even when we go through some pretty deep mud and sand. Just got my first pair of trail boots. 8 rides now I have been thru mud, creek water, rocks, uphill, downhill, side hill, tall grass, gravel and everything in between and they stay ON!!! Great product ! 1000% recommend ! Rode on rough terrains with lots of irregularities and grit but also in super sticky and deep mud - boots stayed on no matter what, horse felt fresh and comfy and moves reaaally nicely with them, he feels the terrain a lot better than when he had regular shoes on - he hasn't tripped or stumbled on his own feet once since. I'm super happy and grateful for these hoof boots, can't wait to go out there and explore more with my horse !

Love the boots! Tried them on and they fit beautifully!! While we tried them on my horse decided to be a brat and rear up and cut her head open and do all that stuff. The back boots were a obvious choice. As a proud owner of orange and blue pair I needed a pair that would fit all my saddle pads (the matching is so important :D) and also boot that i could pick up for a competitions or photoshoots without the boots taking a little too much attention. I love them! Mostly I use them in the arena for working equitation and dressage training, sometimes i use them on the trails as well. After months of research we decided to go with Renegade hoof boots for our barefoot horse, and we are extremely happy with the fit, adjustability, and ease of putting them on and taking them off. They are the best boots I have ever gotten for my horse. He loves them and is pain free! They have held up amazing through mud, rocks, water, up and down muddy slopes, and all terrain! I would recommend and always buy from now on. They clean up easily after going through mud and the Velcro continues to stick like new! I’m so glad I found them and have never been more satisfied with a pair of hoof boots. They have been better than putting shoes on my horse and allow his feet to heal and strengthen naturally while having fun riding!

I bought a pair on Black Friday, went back within hours to purchase another pair (decided to boot up my boy all the way!). Customer service was wonderful! "Tanner" is such a better ride now that he's no longer really barefoot (no risk of sole bruising) healthier hooves vs shoeing (nail holes!) not to mention less expensive to just have him trimmed. The initial adjustment is a bit tricky but after that just pop em on, Velcro & go (and no I didn't have the straps in the "O" ring keepers in the photo). I HIGHLY recommend these!

Transitioning Exracehorses to barefoot can be challenging. I have successfully transitioned my two OTTBS with the help of Renegade Vipers. We ride hard trails. We gallop, we climb. I also three day event and jump one of my Thoroughbreds. I have never had a rub in five years of daily riding. My last set of Renegades lasted over 3 years of daily riding. I have tried 3 other hoof boots that don't even come close to the quality and comfort for my horse. And it's wonderful they are made in my home state of Arizona!

Great fit. Easy to put on and take off, cleans easily and all parts are possible to replace with spares. Works for everyday riding, jumping and turnout. Plus on the material that does not pack snow underneath so they work great during winter.

So far, the boots seem like they work to protect the horses' feet, but the O-ring system to keep the velcro closed could use another look. Both my husband and I find the O-rings very annoying to use, and they don't really work that great. The velcro comes out of the O-rings, and two on one boot have already broken at the same time.

What sizes are available in each hoof boot model?
When sizing for Vipers, allow a minimum of 5mm (and max of 10mm) clearance between the hoof measurement and boot measurement, to allow for variation during the trim cycle.

Can I add customizations?
Yes. Simply click on your desired options from above and add them to your cart. Be sure to add any information in the cart notes - for example if you buy 4 boots but want to swap heel captivators on only two, or add studs only on the front boots, please provide plenty of detail so we can make the customizations to the right boots!
What if I want to buy more than one boot?
Just adjust the quantity for each size / model boot you need. Please let us know in the notes field at checkout which hoof the boots will go on, so we can put the velcro on facing the right way for each hoof.
If you buy a pair or a set of 4 we will assume that these are going left and right and put the velcro on as a pair or a set.
How long will Renegade hoof boots last?
Mileage will depend on the terrain, speed, and how the horse moves. On average, it is expected to get 500-600 miles out of the Classic model, and 600-800 miles out of the Vipers.
Abrasive rough terrain, or horses who drag their toes will likely get fewer miles out of their boots.
