Salty Monica is an equestrian girl from the beautiful region of Tuscany, Italy. She tells us she goes by the name “salty” not only for her temperament ;) … but because this adjective refers to the beach breeze: she loves to go ride her horses by the beach in her hometown!

She started her instagram account back in 2020, sharing her trail rides in Italy and then, throughout all these years, around the world: from riding stunning Lusitano horses in Portugal, to experiencing the jungle in Belize (Central America) on horseback.

Now she has finally understood there is no place like home and has come back to her hometown - with a few additions…

It all started in August 2025, when she decided to buy her dream horse: Attila, a wonderful young bay Arabian colt with the extraordinary trait of having a silver mane and tail (Gulastra Plume). Attila used to do Arabian beauty shows when he was a yearling, then he was put up for sale, and stole Monica’s heart. This young horse joined Renegade’s family last year and since then they have done so much together. She absolutely adores his personality and his looks.

But this is not where it ends… in January 2026 Monica got presented with a situation she felt she could not turn her back to: a beautiful bay arabian horse was being kept “prisoner” inside for a box since almost a year. Monica says “When I saw the pictures, I saw the eyes of my baby Arabian in that horse and I felt I had to save him”.

We are talking about Altivo, a 9yo dark bay Arabian stallion (now gelding), which needed help. Monica decided to organize a fundraiser campaign to take him to his stable. She wants to thank Renegade Hoof Boots for also contributing to support this cause.

She took him home in February: he was extremely aggressive, unpolite and traumatized. Monica and her team gave him all the required care and training, his own pink hoof boots and love. Now they are already going on adventures together and he is absolutely fantastic.

Monica has been using Renegade Hoof Boots since her adventures abroad, living in the Belizean jungle. “Trust me when I say the ground and climate is EXTREME there”, she says, “however no matter the condition, I could always rely on my horse boots”.  She only does trail rides with her horses, and she likes speed so she wants to make sure they are protected no matter the ground they are on. She feels it would be selfish and she wouldn’t feel at ease with herself knowing her barefoot horse may be in pain from the harsh terrain without their hoof boots.

All the horses Monica has ever had, have always been barefoot. Sure, some needed more care than the others, but she believes that once you have the right combination of a good farrier, healthy diet and the right protection, you can keep them barefoot.

Monica does not personally trim her horses at the moment, but her farrier, who is a natural horsemanship trainer, tries to keep all the horses at her barn barefoot. He is a supporter of this natural way of keeping and training the horses.

Monica told us:

"What I the most about these hoof boots is seeing how smooth the horses accept them: I has never seen a horse wearing a boot for the first time and being “unsure” of it. They just walk in the boots even the first times smoothly, as if they were relieved. This is the most important reason, but my other favorite features about Renegade hoof boots are: easy to put on, easy to adjust, no rub, no worries, no nothing!"

Monica's goal is to enjoy her horses to the fullest, going on adventures and why not, maybe in the future some endurance competition! As long as she is around horses, Monica is happy, and grateful for this amazing life, her partnership with Renegade, and her beautiful boys.
