Combined, Gin has logged over 6,200 miles on two continents in Renegade Hoof Boots. Below, she shares her story of crossing Australia's unforgiving Nullarbor Plains with her brumby, Fable—and how just two pairs of Renegades carried them every step of the way across the Outback.

My Renegade hoof boots have faithfully carried me across two continents on horseback!
I first rode across the length of the U.S. in 2022-23” on my mustang, Finley.
Then, in 2025-26”, I did the same in Australia, going from east to west coast (think, Sydney to Perth) on my brumby, Fable.
Nearly every step of the way, my Renegades hoof boots provided unparalleled and indispensable support to my horses’.
This most recent Outback adventure took my horse and me across one of the most unforgiving landscapes in the world—the Nullarbor Plains, a vast desert spanning 800 miles. At its furthest point, the nearest town with services is 400 miles away. On horseback, the Nullarbor takes 2 months to traverse. While I had caches of food and water strategically dropped in advance by volunteers, I otherwise set out alone—the first in modern day to attempt a ridden crossing without constant vehicle support.
Out there, being properly outfitted with the best gear isn’t just important—it can mean the difference between life and death.
Yet I did not hesitate for a moment to embark with Renegade hoof boots; I set out with total confidence.
They never let us down.
While my Brumby, Fable, has rock hard hooves, his soles unfortunately lack concavity, so he wore his Renegade boots 95% of the time.
Over the 2,500 miles (4,400 kilometers) we covered in total, we used only two pairs.
His first pair conquered 1,300 miles from Tathra, New South Wales (east coast), to Ceduna, South Australia (start of the Nullarbor).
While his second pair comfortably lasted the remaining 1,200 miles from Ceduna, South Australia, to Busselton, Western Australia (west coast).
What’s more, I used 3 out of 4 of the same heel captivators for the ENTIRE distance, only swapping out all the boot shells midway!
I could not be more thrilled with the performance of these boots. It is undeniable to me; Renegades are the best engineered hoof boot on the market.
The two-part system allows for maximum adjustability and flexibility while their material (polymer composite, in the case of Vipers) provides excellent durability and support.
As always, I highly recommend carrying replacement parts in one’s saddle bags when long riding to make repairs in the field.
