Renegades are the worlds best hoof boot. Here's why.

Renegades are the worlds best hoof boot. Here's why.

Renegade® Hoof Boots were created in the USA by an American Natural Hoof Care Practitioner.

Over more than twenty years since inception in 2005, the patented Renegade® hoof boot design has proven itself over hundreds of thousands of miles in hundreds of countries around the world. The original Classic Hoof Boots continue to be used, and the newer Viper Hoof Boot style which launched in 2010 has become extremely popular due to its lighter weight, deeper tread, more shaped heel captivator and wide range of colors.

Top reasons why Renegade® is the best hoof boot design

Renegade® hoof boots don't rub your horse.

The patented Pivoting Heel Captivator design means that unlike other hoof boots, a Renegade® hoof boot has two separate parts, connected only by military grade cable, but working in tandem to protect your horses barefoot hooves. The Pivoting Heel Captivator is a competition-proven design that lets the heel part of the hoof boot pivot and move dynamically with the horse's heel bulbs, rather than rubbing against them.

The heel captivator is shaped to sit around the bulbs of your horses heels and lined with dense neoprene for additional comfort. It allows the horses heels to flex and move naturally, while the hoof boot 'shell' sits comfortably on the hoof, and does not overlap or rub the coronet band.

This means that even if the boots go through mud, water or sand, no grit is rubbed against vulnerable areas of the horses heels and hoof.

The straps also do not rub, as only the tension strap - which sits against the front of the boot - is tightened firmly. The pastern strap which goes around the front of the horse's leg is fastened with a four finger gap.

Ergonomic hoof boot shell design

The 'shell' of a Renegade® hoof boot is ergonomically designed to contour to the natural shape of the horse's hoof, eliminating the need for rigid metal shoes and nails completely, and allowing for a natural feel and movement for the horse. The boot toe is angled and narrowed to allow for a breakover point that feels natural to the horse and does not limit its way of going.

Serious hoof boot tread for fantastic traction

Most horse riders know the feeling of a horse's hooves slipping under them when riding on concrete or asphalt in steel horse shoes - and probably just reading that sentence gave you a slightly sick feeling.

Unlike metal shoes, hoof boots can grip and get traction on asphalt and concrete. Our Viper hoof boots in particular feature a distinctive boot tread with deep grooves. These artistically structured sole patterns look great but more importantly, the fierce hoof boot tread is designed to maximize traction on rugged terrain, asphalt, or endurance trails.

Many Renegade® customers also jump their horses on grass in our hoof boots - and they tell us this wasn't a good idea in other brands which have allowed their horse to slide on the grass on take off or landing.

Fully adjustable hoof boots

Renegade® hoof boots feature a unique cabling system profile where sleek exterior pathing molded into the boot allows the signature military-grade cable tensioning setup to sit perfectly on each boot. These cables are very adjustable with even a small change  in length resulting in a big difference in the tension of the boot set up.

An even simpler way to adjust the hoof boots tensioning system is to alter the velcro strap length - either at the front, or in the section folded behind the front strap.

The size of the boot shell is essential to get right, but once you have used our free sizing service and have the right size shell, any other adjustments between trim cycles or as your horses hooves expand after a barefoot transition should be easily attainable.

Easy on, no hoof pick, no broken nails

Putting on your hoof boots on your horse should be drama free, and that's why we use tough hook and eye velcro straps which resist long grass, scrub, sand and water but peel back easily when you want to put on or remove your hoof boots. No force required.

All our hoof boot parts are replaceable

If you've ridden long distances and worn through a strap or a cable, no problem! Pop over to our parts department and grab a new one. Broke a heel captivator? Easy, pop a new one in your shopping cart. All cables and heel captivator are fine but your horse has a slightly off kilter stride and wore through a boot in one spot? Easy, we have new hoof boot shells for sale.

This makes keeping your horse in the comfort of Renegades is very affordable compared to having to buy an entire new hoof boot whenever any part is worn out.

You can also spice up your hoof boots with printed straps to add some extra personality to your horses look, or to make it easy to identify which set of boots is for which horse.

The best reason we believe in our hoof boots?

Because our customers do!

We've got customers who have been riding in Renegade® Hoof Boots for twenty years! We hear from endurance riders who have clocked up 1000 miles in a pair of Renegade® hoof boots, and distance riders who have won 100 Mile races with Renegade® hoof boots on their barefoot horses, while other horses wore through their steel shoes.

Horse owners in Norway, Australia and France, Brazil, Germany and Scotland (and many other countries) share photographs and videos of their horses confidently barefoot in Renegade® hoof boots - and our wonderful customers write the most amazing reviews of Renegade® hoof boots.

If you've bought and reviewed our hoof boots - Thank you. We appreciate each and every one of you so much.
