A quantity of 1 is a single boot, select 2 for a pair of boots. Each increment of 2 will be treated as a pair for initial strap setup (one left one right). If you order an odd number of hoof boots, please use the notes field at checkout to request how many of “Left” or “Right”.
Single boot sales allow owners of horses with mis-matched hoof sizes to buy individually, and for easy purchase of single replacements.
The sizes indicate the hoof boot sole dimensions. We recommend selecting a size that is about 5-10mm longer and wider than the hoof measurements after a proper Natural Style Trim. The sizing shows length first then width second.
NOTE: COLOR MAY VARY SLIGHTLY FROM YOUR SCREEN DISPLAY.
The material used to make our Hoof Boots is an ultra durable polyurethane for a very long lasting boot, which is also designed to deliver even more hoof and joint protection than the horse would get barefoot without hoof boots.
Viper® Shield is the hardest wearing material - You can expect 600-1000 miles out of Viper® Shield hoof boots.
Viper® Vivid™ is an ultra durable polyurethane resulting in an extremely long lasting boot, while offering a very slightly softer material, and Viper® Glow material has slightly more give.

The Renegade® Viper Shield™ Hoof Boot provides durable, lightweight, long-lasting hoof protection for barefoot horses, eliminating the expense of metal shoes and allowing natural flexion of the hoof for optimum circulation and healthy hooves.
Viper™ Hoof Boots have been developed over 20 years for maximum mileage, hoof stability and endurance hoof boot for barefoot horses. With competition-proven pivoting heel captivator design, a military grade cabling system and durable straps, the Viper™ Hoof Boot features a sleek look and bright colors, while the ultra-durable polyurethane used to make the Viper™ results in a seriously tough, long-lasting boot. Deep tread grooves provide longer-lasting grip to bite the ground, and display the artistic talent of our hoof boot designer, Kirt Lander.
This hoof boot design was trimmed down using finite element analysis, resulting in a hoof boot with more robust tread which weighs around 15% less than the Classic, and offers more lateral clearance on both the Boot Shell and the Heel Captivator. A deeper Heel Captivator 'gullet' allows for improved pastern bone clearance. The inside of the hoof boot is texturized and the Heel Captivator Liner is bonded in place for more stability in action. The Viper™ logo and boot size are stamped large inside of each boot for quick and easy size readability.
When sizing for Vipers, allow a minimum of 5mm (and max of 10mm) clearance between the hoof measurement and boot measurement, to allow for variation during the trim cycle.

I think studded sneakers are a fabulous invention! So much traction for the snowy icy weather! Renegades are so easy to fit, thanks for coming through for me again!
Extremely happy with the performance of my renegades. No twisting, no falling off and most importantly, no rubbing my horse. Customer service has also been great, helpful and fast response times

My mare has sensitive hooves but with her Renegades, I can keep her in hoof boots and she happily goes down the trail on our 25 and 30 mile endurance rides. We went through some challenges with shoes and I wasn't sure if she would compete again until we found your hoof boots. They keep her comfortable and happy despite our rocky New England terrain. Thank you!

So far no rubbing, great fit, stay on, I'll test them this weekend for a long 50 mile endurance ride so well see if they stand up, so far on 8mile rides they have been great!
Update to this review, I did a 50 miler endurance ride in SD. My horse had his new Viper front boots on, they were AMAZING! No rubbing, they staid on the whole time, they keep him happy and sound on the rocky trail.
LOVE them!
I exchanged the emerald green 140x 135 for Arizona cooper 140 x 130 fronts
And 135x 125 for hind feet at copper
We are loving them. The fronts are perfect and the hinds are close to perfect. I probably would have ordered
135 x 130 but you didn’t have them. I think after one more trim I am going to be happy I have the 135 x 125 s
She travels well with them and I like the easy on easy off process as I am 82 years old and my hands don’t work like they once did
Thanks for all the help in getting the right size

Great product and company. Ended up having to switch out the captivators to the original style but the combo of viper boots and original captivators is working well for my mare for trail riding.
Store owner replied:
Dear Colleen,
Thanks for the great review! We're happy to hear you found a combination of Viper boots and original captivators that works well for your mare.
We appreciate your support and are glad you're enjoying your Renegade boots!
Sincerely,
The Renegade Hoof Boots Team
Your original boots were very limited in size and there wasn't a size that fit my horse's front hooves. (The old 2ww fit his hinds.). The added more precise sizes are a big thumbs up. Also, the solid lip across the front is much better, the split on the original boots was always a weak point, and I tended to break it when I took the boots off. Still use the old 2ww on his back hooves and have to be careful when removing them
Store owner replied:
Thank you for the detailed feedback, Laura!
We are glad the precise Viper sizing gave you the perfect fit for your horse's front hooves. It’s also great to hear that the solid front lip design is a helpful upgrade for you—we designed that change specifically to prevent the tearing that could happen with the original split style. Kudos to you for keeping those original 2ww hinds going; just keep being gentle during removal!
If you ever need replacement parts or future assistance, we are always here at support@renegadehoofboots.com or 888-817-4794. Happy trails!

Terry Banister and I have little problem with our Renegade and Viper Boots. Terry uses Renegade "0's all the way around. Sometimes, 125/125 Vipers on the rears for hilly or muddy footing.
I trim Ferrari and OT Rasa RSI all the way down to where the Hoof Wall is even with the Sole for Endurance Rides.
On Rasa's fronts, I use Viper Toes (135 X135) as they fit her Hoofs better with Renegade Captivators.
On Rasa's rears, I run (135 X 130) Vipers, as Viper Captivators do not flex as much as Renegade Captivators preventing the Hoof from torquing out of the back of the boot when riding out mud, especially up hill!
After a competition day, we toss them in a bucket of water for a few minutes, then inspect them for any frayed cables, missing O rings, or worn straps. After a few hundred miles or treacherous/muddy terrain, we may have to replace a velcro strap or an O-ring. We never start a ride with compromised boot, and we always ride with two spares in boot bags behind the cantle. It only takes a minute to replace a boot, and we lose very little time.
We ride the boots on until the Hoof toe wears thru front of boot then replace them and use them as spares or rocky rides around The Outlaw Trail.
We do ride Barefoot for pleasure riding unless REALLY Rocky.
AND Those Renegade/Vipers Sure Feel Mighty Fine on an Endurance Rides when U strike a fast trot down a Paved Road, Gravel Road, Hard Road or Rocky Terrain!

Dear People at Renegade Boots, I just wanted you to know how much my horse, Honey, loves her new boots. My husband and I and Honey live in the Texas Hill Country which, although beautiful, is full of rocks. There is only about 6-8 inches of ground soil that willingly gives way to the limestone underneath. When Honey and I would explore the trails here she would return exhausted and stressed from the rocks as she is a barefoot girl and the rocks and stones can’t all be avoided. I had to figure something out so my Farrier, Julie Saf, suggested these boots. She measured her hooves and I ordered. They were easy to get on and once Honey realized that they signalled a comfortable and fun ride she was a different horse on the trail. Now, she knows we are going out and lifts her feet in anticipation as I bring out her boots from the tack room. You have changed her world and made mine better.
Store owner replied:
Dear Flicka,
Thank you so much for sharing such a beautiful and heartwarming story with us!
The Texas Hill Country is absolutely stunning, but that rugged limestone and loose rock can definitely be a brutal combination for a barefoot horse. It is incredibly tough to watch them return home exhausted and stressed from navigating that kind of challenging terrain.
We are so glad that your farrier, Julie Saf, recommended Renegades to you! Hearing that Honey now lifts her feet in anticipation when you bring her Emerald Green Vipers out of the tack room completely melts our hearts. Knowing that she associates her boots with comfort and fun, and that they have truly changed her world (and made yours better!), is the greatest reward we could ever ask for.
Thank you for choosing Renegade to protect your sweet girl. We wish you, Honey, and your husband many more beautiful, stress-free, and rock-defying adventures out on the Texas trails!
Best regards,
Renegade Hoof Boot Support
I have spent a month road-testing four Renegade boots with my over-striding horse who was previously regularly stripping off his front boots from a mainstream brand. We have gone up hill, downhill, and through mud at extended paces and have had no problems whatsoever with the boots. Not even cantering tight turns in rough country, galloping flat out. The horse is super confident with his feet in rough terrain now. There is also little wear on the soles despite the frequent rocks and going endurance pace. Thanks for a great design. I would recommend these boots to anyone.
Big fan of your renegades, they really really worked out for my Paint/Rocky Mountain Cross. I had a bit of a glitch a year into using them and called your company for some support regarding fit and problem solving my issue and they were great and it was resolved. My farrier is also very impressed with them and she intends to order them for her mounts.

Can I add customizations?
Yes. Simply click on your desired options from above and add them to your cart. Be sure to add any information in the cart notes - for example if you buy 4 boots but want to swap heel captivators on only two, or add studs only on the front boots, please provide plenty of detail so we can make the customizations to the right boots!
What if I want to buy more than one boot?
Just adjust the quantity for each size / model boot you need. Please let us know in the notes field at checkout which hoof the boots will go on, so we can put the velcro on facing the right way for each hoof.
If you buy a pair or a set of 4 we will assume that these are going left and right and put the velcro on as a pair or a set.
How long will Renegade hoof boots last?
Mileage will depend on the terrain, speed, and how the horse moves. On average, it is expected to get 500-600 miles out of the Classic model, and 600-800 miles out of the Vipers.
Abrasive rough terrain, or horses who drag their toes will likely get fewer miles out of their boots.
