A quantity of 1 is a single boot, select 2 for a pair of boots. Each increment of 2 will be treated as a pair for initial strap setup (one left one right). If you order an odd number of hoof boots, please use the notes field at checkout to request how many of “Left” or “Right”.
Single boot sales allow owners of horses with mis-matched hoof sizes to buy individually, and for easy purchase of single replacements.
The sizes indicate the hoof boot sole dimensions. We recommend selecting a size that is about 5-10mm longer and wider than the hoof measurements after a proper Natural Style Trim. The sizing shows length first then width second.

The material used to make our Hoof Boots is an ultra durable polyurethane for a very long lasting boot, which is also designed to deliver even more hoof and joint protection than the horse would get barefoot without hoof boots.
Viper® Shield is the hardest wearing material - You can expect 600-1000 miles out of Viper® Shield hoof boots.
Viper® Vivid™ is an ultra durable polyurethane resulting in an extremely long lasting boot, while offering a very slightly softer material, and Viper® Glow material has slightly more give.

Viper™ Hoof Boots have been developed over 20 years for maximum mileage, hoof stability and endurance hoof boot for barefoot horses. With competition-proven pivoting heel captivator design, a military grade cabling system and durable straps, the Viper™ Hoof Boot features a sleek look and bright colors, while the ultra-durable polyurethane used to make the Viper Shield™ results in a seriously tough, long-lasting boot. Deep tread grooves provide longer-lasting grip to bite the ground, and display the artistic talent of our hoof boot designer, Kirt Lander.
This hoof boot design was trimmed down using finite element analysis, resulting in a hoof boot with more robust tread which weighs around 15% less than the Classic, and offers more lateral clearance on both the Boot Shell and the Heel Captivator. A deeper Heel Captivator 'gullet' allows for improved pastern bone clearance. The inside of the hoof boot is texturized and the Heel Captivator Liner is bonded in place for more stability in action. The Viper™ logo and boot size are stamped large inside of each boot for quick and easy size readability.
When sizing for Vipers, allow a minimum of 5mm (and max of 10mm) clearance between the hoof measurement and boot measurement, to allow for variation during the trim cycle.

The boots look good and I like the color, but they don’t fit super great. It seemed snug when I put it on, but after each trail ride, I find a TON of small rocks inside the boots so apparently it’s big. He does not like to wear them which sucks, even after dozens of rides

Just a quick tip to ensure your horse stays completely comfortable out on the trail: always make sure the pastern strap is kept nice and loose—you should easily be able to fit 3 or 4 fingers underneath it!

After a fresh trim, I had my farrier measure the hooves. Renegade recommended a size and I purchased that size. The shoes have fit wonderfully at the new trim and 4 week mark. We walked, trotted and centered over varied terrain to include rocks, creek beds, water, hills and deep mud; these shoes never moved! I have finally found the perfect shoe in lieu of horseshoes. I bought the copper color just in case I lost them in the mud, I would be able to find them. I am going to get another set for my Mare! Best shoes and I have tried them all.

About half our riding is on soft dirt with few rocks and the other half of our riding is on gravel or rocky surfaces. Shoeing my horse seemed unnecessary and expensive compared with purchasing a high quality boot. After asking several people their opinion, I decided on the Renegade boot and have been very pleased with their performance. I’ve tried a couple of different hoof boots before, and they all had the same frustrating problem… they’d fly off mid-ride. Not ideal when you’re riding near cliffs and over rocky terrain, like in my hometown!

A 5-star experience from start to finish. I purchased these boots after hearing stellar reviews from several of my friends. I previously used another brand for my mare who has under-run heels and bouts of laminitis. I purchased the boots without sending in measurement photos to the team. I have ridden several 50 miles rides and almost all of my trail/endurance conditioning for the past year using Renegade Hoof Boots. They provide great hoof protection through all terrain and allow me to keep my horses barefoot the majority of the time even as a very active rider doing a variety of disciplines. I think most horses could benefit from having a complete set of Renegade boots even if it compliments seasonal shoeing or loss of shoes (how nice to have a spare with you ready to go so that a thrown shoe doesn't slow you down) The team at Renegade cares about getting the right fit for your horse and also these boots are a great investment as they last much longer than steel shoes and can be used for years for most horses. These are the first boots I can consistently get her to plant her hind hoof and turn 100 degrees. I will continue to build her to get her moving off my legs better. I didn't tighten the lower velcro tight enough so she lost her boot. It was on our trails so we retraced our trails until we found it. I tightened the lower velcro better now. I had to adjust the wires for her back boots but it is fairly easy with video link they sent to me. I really like these boots! Time will tell on their durability

I recently called Renegade Boots to order a new pair of boots. There is nothing wrong with the pair I currently have, as a matter of fact I have had them for 13 years and the ONLY reason I decided to get a new pair was truly due to the fact that the current ones are 13 years old and I thought my horse deserved a new pair of boots. I took some photographs of my 13 year old boots and as you can see, they are hardly worn (and yes I do ride quite often and not always on soft soil), the straps and rigging are still in good shape and there are no "worn" spots or holes in them. These boots have been the best investment I have ever had and I recommend them to anyone who has shoes on their horse and wants to "stop" the expense of the shoes. I stopped putting shoes on him as his hoofs were crumbling, my farrier at the time was a little reluctant for me to do this as I had been showing, but now 13 years later, his hoofs are great, we ride on any terrane and swim in the Potomac River which has a muddy bottom as well as Lake Anna In Virginia, Boots have never come off even in the soft muddy lake. Everyone I ride with has a pair and have most likely had them as long as I have had them. Truly they are the best you will ever find.

The boots help by mare enormously!
The team were very helpful in size recommendations and also in swapping out the pastern strap at no charge as my mare has skinny ankles.

I love how easy they are to put on and off. Haven't only rode on the roads by my house and so far are working out good. Did have to tighten them a few times.

The Boots do their job, my horse has been able to stay barefoot while training 5 days a week arena and trails. It takes some time to get the boots on right but your horse is worth it. I suggest you clean them every use, especially the rubber portions.

Can I add customizations?
Yes. Simply click on your desired options from above and add them to your cart. Be sure to add any information in the cart notes - for example if you buy 4 boots but want to swap heel captivators on only two, or add studs only on the front boots, please provide plenty of detail so we can make the customizations to the right boots!
What if I want to buy more than one boot?
Just adjust the quantity for each size / model boot you need. Please let us know in the notes field at checkout which hoof the boots will go on, so we can put the velcro on facing the right way for each hoof.
If you buy a pair or a set of 4 we will assume that these are going left and right and put the velcro on as a pair or a set.
How long will Renegade hoof boots last?
Mileage will depend on the terrain, speed, and how the horse moves. On average, it is expected to get 500-600 miles out of the Classic model, and 600-800 miles out of the Vipers.
Abrasive rough terrain, or horses who drag their toes will likely get fewer miles out of their boots.
